The Arboretum is an Arizona State Park located at Highway 60 milepost #223 near the historic copper mining town of Superior, 55 miles due east of Phoenix. Through the University of Arizona, the Boyce Thompson Southwest Arboretum was established on a portion of 400 acres. The initial mission of the Arboretum was to study the plants of desert countries and to make the results available to the public.
