Mesa Chamber Community Action Partnership

Mesa Chamber Community Action Partnership

Tuesday, July 9, 2024 (4:00 PM - 5:00 PM) (MST)

Description

All Chamber members are invited to join us to maximize the impact of non-profit organizations in Mesa. Guest speakers share information each month, and attendees build relationships to support each other's service to our community.

All non-profit members in good standing attending the July 9th Community Action Partnership meeting will be entered into a drawing to win either a Podcast, an ad in the next Mesa Morning Live program, a free banner ad or Live Webcast. Also, the Chamber will be collecting a short video collection (criteria to follow) from non-profits to run on social media from those who attend the July 9, 2024, meeting.

Guest Speakers: Marlo Loria, Director of CTE & Innovative Partnerships, Mesa Public Schools Foundation & Dawn Rhodes, Service-Learning Program Coordinator, Mesa Community College.

Can your business or non-profit use an extra set of willing and able hands while promoting career advancement? Internships and apprenticeships are an excellent way to engage our future workforce in the community.

Marlo will be sharing the opportunities for businesses to engage with students to develop successful career pathways though education, internships and interaction opportunities for businesses in the Mesa Public Schools.

Mesa Public Schools developed the Graduation Plus model, which equips students with a high school diploma and a portfolio that ensures readiness for college, careers, and community engagement. A cornerstone of this model is providing meaningful work-based learning experiences, enabling students to connect their skills and interests to careers while building their social capital.

Dawn Rhodes has a Masters in Education and her undergraduate study was in nonprofit leadership and management. She loves connecting people and improving the community. Her daily mantra is "Who can I bless today?"  Dawn will talk about how to utilize her students in the workforce: Service-learning (unpaid volunteers), paid interns, and promote job opportunities.

* Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to sign in and network as we will promptly start at 4pm. *
