Process Technician
Job Summary:
The Process Technician will be responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing plastic injection molding machines to ensure production efficiency, quality, and safety. This position requires technical knowledge of plastics injection molding processes and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and start up processing equipment according to production schedules and specifications.
- Monitor and adjust processing parameters to ensure quality and minimize downtime.
- Perform troubleshooting of machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment to resolve issues.
- Assist in mold changes, machine maintenance, and repairs as required.
- Document process parameters and maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Work closely with quality assurance to ensure product compliance with specifications.
- Support continuous improvement efforts including cycle time reduction and scrap reduction.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed and report any hazards or incidents immediately.
Provide training or guidance to operators as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in plastic processing (injection molding).
- Strong understanding of thermoplastics, molding processes, and equipment.
- Familiarity with process documentation and SPC (Statistical Process Control).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job orders.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Standing, walking, and working around machinery for extended periods.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
