Duties
Job Site Walks
1. With sales/service representatives, performs joint job walks on existing and potential customer sites to ascertain the costs and labor to install and properly start-up various water and wastewater treatment equipment. Typical items would include cooling tower and boiler chemical control and feed systems, corrosion coupon racks, water softeners, RO units, cooling tower systems, water reuse systems, inclined plate wastewater units, and sequential batch wastewater units.
Installations
1. Under minimal supervision and with a Company supplied vehicle, tools, and equipment, installs various equipment items such as cooling tower and boiler chemical control and feed systems, corrosion coupon racks, water softeners, and RO units. Plastic and copper piping installation maximum size of 1”, electrical installation limited to 110 v.
2. Participates in installation of major systems such as cooling tower and wastewater treatment systems and assists in start-up and troubleshooting.
3. Assists water treatment service technicians in troubleshooting and repair of customer
chemical feed and control systems and all water related equipment such as water softeners and RO units.
4. Interfaces with central engineering and technical staff , District Sales and Account Managers, and customers on system operating and control problems.
Required skill set for this position:
1. Basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repair and troubleshooting ability is required. Electrical work is mainly 110 vac and control voltage work. Plumbing is limited to plastic tubing, plastic pipe up to 1” and sweat copper to 1”. Candidate must have ability to use manufacturers’ manuals for field repair and rebuild of chemical feed equipment.
2. Using troubleshooting guides, operator must be able to troubleshoot customer systems to ascertain cause(s) of operating problems.
3. Must have the ability to read manufacturers’ manuals for chemical control/feed equipment, water softeners, and RO units so as to properly set up units and make field adjustments and minor repairs.
4. Candidate must be able manage multiple tasks, work well with customer maintenance and engineering personnel, able to work independently with minimal direct supervision, and have good computer/organizational skills.
5. Valid driver’s license, good driving record.
6. Must be able to pass security check for work in some accounts such as airports, schools, and chemical manufacturing facilities.
7. May be placed on 24/7 call out basis and be able to work on week-ends and holidays, this
would be a minimal activity
8. Prior HVAC or water treatment (potable water - sanitary - industrial wastewater) experience would be of benefit.
