Mesa Community College student nationally recognized for civic engagement and leadership

Press Release Human Interest Education

MESA, Arizona – June 2, 2026 – Mesa Community College (MCC) student Leonardo Warnick has been recognized by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) for their engagement with the MCC Center for Community & Civic Engagement (CCCE).

Warnick is one of only 168 students selected from across the United States to be named to the 2026 ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll for their contributions to creating a more civically engaged culture within their campus communities.

Established in 2016 and based in Washington, D.C., ALL IN empowers colleges and universities to achieve excellence in nonpartisan student democratic engagement, celebrating students who lead by example and empower their peers to become lifelong participants in democracy.

Warnick was acknowledged for their outstanding leadership and initiative in advancing nonpartisan civic engagement through their work with the CCCE, which offers MCC students experiential and hands-on opportunities for community-based and service learning, diverse and inclusive student engagement, federal work-study positions and community service and volunteerism.

They took the lead in promoting Coffee & Chat discussions where students exchange ideas on important issues in the MCC community and share perspectives in a welcoming environment. Warnick also was key in supporting and executing campus events, such as organizing and leading activities for civic holidays like National Voter Registration Day, Vote Early Day and Election Hero Day.

Moreover, ALL IN recognized Warnick’s contribution to building a stronger culture of civic participation at MCC by taking ownership of civic programs, guiding peer engagement, supporting outreach efforts and mentoring peers.

“Mesa Community College is committed to fostering informed and engaged citizens through meaningful civic learning and participation opportunities,” said MCC President Dr. Richard Daniel. “This national recognition from the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge reflects Leonardo Warnick’s contributions to advancing nonpartisan civic engagement on campus and underscores the important work of our Center for Community & Civic Engagement in cultivating student leadership and community involvement.”
